Cloudcroft, New Mexico

Just two hours north of and a mile higher than El Paso (at an actual elevation of about 9,000 feet) is Cloudcroft, New Mexico. Located in the Sacramento Mountains and operated as part of the Lincoln National Forest, the area has an abundance of outdoor fun options. Hiking and mountain biking on the Rim Trail is world class, the views of White Sands below are stunning, there’s snow in which to play in the winter, and high-altitude golf in the summer. The small town of Cloudcroft has an old west/mountain vibe to it. It’s a great day or overnight trip from El Paso
